The Makie Cake Knife is an artwork on its own. The slightly curved narrow blade of the cake knife gently cuts without ruining fragile sponge cakes, roll cakes, or tarts, and other confectionery. This knife has been designed by Junichi Hakose, a Japanese Lacquer artist, who has worked with world renowned brands such as CHANEL and Van Cleef & Arpel.

The decorative vivid artwork and Japanese traditional patterns are comprised of cherry blossoms (sakura), fairies, floral snowflake patterns, animals, and traditional Japanese children’s toys.

As each handle is designed carefully by hand only several of these knives can be made each month.

Each knife handle is also autographed by Hakose with his signature and traditional personal seal, and presented in a paulownia wooden box.
